Profile of the Department
Profile of the department
The subject of teaching and research of department is a landscape and settlement environment with an emphasis on rural regions and agricultural landscapes, its landscape design, landscape character and the characteristic landscape. Furthermore, forest and non-forest vegetation as part of the structure of the landscape.
The subject of teaching and research is the identification of the characteristics of the components of landscape structures. Watching and quantifying changes in the country caused by anthropogenic activity. Addressing the urgent problems of the current development, rehabilitation and protection of the territory.
In accordance with the requirements of the European Landscape Convention, it is the elaboration of concepts, management and landscape planning in response to changes in the country.
The need for positive changes and adaptations of the landscape and settlement environment leads to the search for new origins of settlement and management of the landscape. An important factor is the study of the value-meaning features of the landscape, the historical landscapes that effect on its character and identity.
The main objective of KPTK is the application of ecological knowledge in the form of principles and principles of human activity In the learning process, we are dealing with topics that follow the subjects of the general foundation. The subject of the course is to monitor and quantify the changes and processes in the country caused by anthropic activity, to evaluate the landscape structures, to elaborate the concept of landscape transformation and to search for new origins of its maintenance.
KPTK has so far been guiding and providing teaching of the specialization "Landscape Engineering and Landscape Design" in the field of Applied Ecology. He also participates in the Nature and Landscape Protection lessons. Since the academic year 2005/2006, it has been providing selected supporting subjects within the framework of new study programs, in particular SP "Ecology and Landscape Use". It is also preparing a new study program "Environmental and Landscape Design".
The KPTK consists of three sections that represent the direction of our teaching and research:
-
landscaping (landscape) - the importance of arrangement of the features (features, features) of the landscape
-
ecology of woods and landscaping dendrology - the importance of woods in the landscape image,
-
agroecosystems - the importance of agriculture and land use in the composition of the landscape

Dendrology, Landscape Dendrology, Production Ecology, Biotechnology of Vegetation, Agroecosystem, Landscape Design, Landscape Design, Vegetation Landscaping, Urban Planning, Environmental Aspects of Agricultural Production, Agroecosystem, Creation and Management of Recreation Areas.
Supporting subjects include:
Fundamentals of Art Drawing, Spatial Design and Composition, Fundamentals of Design, Cultural Heritage in the Country, etc.
The basic discipline represented by KPTK is landscaping.
History of the department
The Department of Landscape Planning and Creation (KPTK) began to form with the establishment of the Faculty of Ecology since 1991. Its first name was the Department of Applied Ecology, which provided the teaching of subjects of a synthetic and application character.
From r. 1993, the department was responsible for engineering studies at the level of specialization entitled "Creation of Landscape and Vegetation". In 1996, the department was renamed to the Department of Landscape Design. In the interest of approaching the specialization to the possible creation of a department, the title of specialization in 1998 was changed to "Landscape Engineering and Landscape Design" and in 2000, as part of an amendment to the FEE Statute, the title of the Department at the " The Department of Landscape Planning and Creation".
The first head of the department was prof. Mgr. Milan Ružička, DrSc., later prof. Ing. Ján Supuka, DrSc. In the years 2001-2002 the department headed by doc. Mgr. Dagmar Sláviková, CSc. From 2002 to 2005 led the department doc. Ing. Karol Kocik, CSc. Since the end of 2005 he has been directed by the department head doc. Ing. Peter Jančura, PhD.
